It's almost time.....

164 days ago I picked Stan up from school with no clue when he would return!
In just over 36 hours he is finally returning.
So how do I feel about this - I feel fine in regards to the Covid side of things, I know the school are doing everything possible to make it safe. But we have new guidance around what they take, what they wear, dinners etc. To some it might not seem much to me its making screenshots of everything from school, checking things with others and re-reading the letters. I didn't think I would be like this but I am just so worried I will miss something which will then result in Stan missing out on something.
I also have the issue of dropping Stan off at the gate and not taking him in, every year we have an emotional start which normally results in a staff member removing Stan from me. He is telling me at the moment he isn't feeling nervous and won't cry but I just know him too well! We have talked about him walking in through the gates on his own, which he says is 'ok'.
Ernie also goes back to his preschool tomorrow, he has been back at nursery since June but hasn't been to this preschool since March. He actually wants to start school so shouldn't be a problem! He wanted to know when we were going to buy his uniform.
Thursday will also be the start of me having a day to myself each week as I have booked Ernie in to do an extra day which means I am childfree! This week I have a haircut booked in and then I might just sit in silence until 3pm.
It's been a long 6 months and Stan defiantly needs to be back at school now! We've been lucky that cricket came back in July along with swimming and rugby is due to start again soon. Each thing means we are another step closer to normality.
So roll on Thursday, I feel there may be tears from both of us! For me, it'll be tears of relief that we are back to routine. Thankfully I have this week off work as don't think I could cope with that as well!
We are nearly there parents!
